Turn up the Bass
I'm listening to some loud funk tonight - trying to drown a little of the pain of handing Little Princess back for another couple weeks. Music, I've said it before, can save your life (or sanity, anyway).
This particular CD is not available in stores (oh, I love sounding like a cheap TV commercial). Slightly-Brit made this mix tape for me. She gifted me with two others as well. And Slightly-Brit does nothing half way.
Not only are these CD's set up so smooooooothly (flowing from song to song - perfect combinations, perfect sequence, etc.) that they'd make the best DJ jealous, but she also included "Notes on the Art of Making a Mix-Tape" - an incredible booklet (that she wrote) with quotes from musicians and music connoisseurs and information about each song included (plus why they were chosen). Now that was a long sentence, yes?
Slighlty-Brit made covers for each of the mixes - the funk selection has an altered section of a James Brown album cover and the words FUNK YOU! - with a tiny "4" between the two words (she's funny).
I think someone ought to make a book (something like the herbal remedy kind) with what music fits what ailment. Funk, with the bass turned real high, is a great blues chaser and butt kicker. Slightly-Brit recommended that I use the funk CD to energize me while I'm working and oh yea - turn the bass up HIGH!
