Here's something that's just perfect for a Wednesday, a Body-Part Wednesday! And, yeah, we'll just have to ignore the fact that it is - in actuality - Thursday (but let me say that I did start this post on Wednesday* - so that oughta count for something!).
Editor's note: Dian Reid from Authentic Realities (the link goes to her cool new blog challenge), showed it to me first (and I forgot to mention that - argh - apologies, Dian).
The cool thing is, now that I waited until Thursday to put up a Body-Part Wednesday post, I found (or was serendipitously** led to) another great video hugging the body-love/body-acceptance topic.
One of the participants in this next video called this: "radical self-care" - WOW!And speaking of the way things weave together in life (weren't we?), I just got my copy of Geneen Roth's Women Food and God yesterday!!
Here's the video - Geneen Roth and Anne Lamott talking about Women Food and God:
*I got lost in time while working with Slightly-British Daughter on our facelift (the blog's facelift - it's doubtful that we could've pulled off - no pun intended - a physical/real-face-skin-related thing - ewww, whatta mess).
** My initial spelling of the word "serendipitously" was: surrendipitously - makes me smile! Good thing we've got Spellcheck though.

Didn't you want that video with Geneen and Anne to go on forever? What a dynamic duo! I'm reading the book too! Slowly and I think I will have to read it a few more times to drill the principles and concepts into my head. It's hard to un-do 30+ years of bad thinking!
PS - LOVE LOVE LOVE the new banner!

Yes, I did want to hear them talk for awhile - would've been cool to be a bug on the wall (yuck, maybe not - maybe a paint chip..lol) after and before the video - to listen to them just talk.
Teryll, me too - I'm reading the book s l o w. It's paradigm shifting!
Thanks about the banner!

Hello,
How fortunate for me to stumble across your site and find this entry. Love the power of the poem and have a major writing/reading crush on Anne. What positive messages about self-acceptance and love. I will carry these messages with me today. I strive for the comfort of which they speak. Thanks!

my favorite part...the very end... "and it IS an inside job." oh how true. we can't focus on the external and expect to change the internal. we have to know to trust that by focusing on the internal—and by focusing, i mean LOVING!—we can change our external.
love that interview. and you KNOW i love the pretty thing =)

Dian, it freaked me out when I heard: "and it IS an inside job" - "Cute is an inside job" is the core message in Choosing Me! (a SP recording) - and I thought I made that up -- well, it must be one of those brilliant minds think alike things..lol
Yes, yes, yes to what you said about LOVING!!
and D - ohmyword - I didn't credit YOU with being the one to share the pretty video - I would never have seen it if it weren't for YOU. Going to edit and note that! (duh..ok, maybe it's not "brilliant minds" after all...lol)

ter, I KNOW - just knocks the wind out of you (in a good way!) - the book is the same (just slower paced because it's a book...or..lol, that could just be how I'm reading it) -- absolutely paradigm shifting -- DEEP stuff that you already know is true, but it MAKES the shift somehow???

wowzers. I am pretty stunned, pretty impressed, pretty darned saddened by the way we women struggle to feel pretty anything. What an amazing tribute to real beauty.

You said it, Pam!! I got chills when she said "pretty awesome" and the other pretty's she'd share with her daughter (if she had one).

"...everyone who will drift home tonight because not enough strangers found you suitable..."
That line was the most powerful for me. Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing these!!

That video struck me to the core when I saw it last week on Dian's facebook page. Being a woman, raising a daughter, I cried (ok, so I'm pregnant but I think I would have cried anyway). Thank you for sharing it again and for the second video. Love them, love you.
