(Another Heart-Opening Reminder of the Shiny!)
I met Dagny Sol only recently. And yet, already I feel I can call her a friend. She is wise, compassionate, open-hearted - and she plays with words like a master (plus she's got a great sense of humor)!
Dagny's blog, Serenely Rapt, is home to a number of her pieces - both essays and fiction. She's been published in Ripples - Short Stories By Indian Women - and like I said: she plays with words like a master, making them work double time.
Dagny wrote a story that I want to share with you, it's called Cindered Dreams - and, oh! how I love this story!!
Writing of the story, Dagny says: "The story demonstrates the inherent impotence of evil. The theme is not new, all of mankind’s mythology is built around the concept of the ultimate victory of GOOD. Just as love stories are an old theme, so is the victory of good over evil. Yet, there are variants to the theme, there are distinctions, there is newness in the incidents."
but you've got to read the story to experience it. I could write for pages on what happens in the story and how it affected me; but I think it's best to just point you to the story itself.
Cindered Dreams was presented in serial form on Serenely Rapt (which, by the way, is an awesome blog title, yes?) - there are 7 parts, and I'm including links to each part here:
- Cindered Dreams
- Cindered Dreams II
- Cindered Dreams III
- Cindered Dreams IV
- Cindered Dreams V
- Cindered Dreams VI
- Cindered Dreams VII
I'd love to hear your experience of the story!!
Dagny is a beautiful heart! One of my fave "square pegs". Love reading her blog, love reading YOUR blog! xoxo

Karen,
As I said, this is overwhelming. I feel touched by immense grace. What more can I say beyond all I have said already?
And yes, I know Luna too. Your doing again. You shared my square peg writeup on your wall and Luna has been interacting with me ever since. That's another thing I must thank you for. You've helped me connect to such lovely people.
Do you know, you touch people's lives and make beautiful transformations happen? 'All' you do is to affirm them... did you know how powerful an affirmation from a discerning soul is..?
Sending you love and hugs, may you continue to bless lives... <3

dear karen,
i don't read much or write...but the one who tells me that you have given birth to some very inspiring words, is also the one who inspires me. and if she has said that you write/inspire then there is no second opinion needed for me.
just thought i will drop by and let you know that she is not just a great person, but a woman of substance - in every sense.
and, i am the lucky 'square peg' she writes about. yes! i feel smug and blessed.
thank you. and have a great day.

Thank you for stopping by, Seth! Oh-you ARE a lucky "square-peg" if you are the fellow Dagny wrote about! And, though I'm guessing you've known her longer than I have - I will agree that our Dagny is quite a great woman! I feel lucky to know her - she is inspiring!!
