I'm excited for their new readers (how cool it would be to experience their work for the first time), I'm excited for all readers (because good books are FUN!), I'm excited for the authors themselves, and (oh sh*t, here's my confession)
I say this blushingly, and confusedly (because I don't 'get' why my ego is making such a big deal of this): I'm probably even more excited about being able to say "I know them".
I'm so excited about saying that I know them that I've stayed away from writing anything about their books here (or on FB or Twitter) - because I knew it was weird to be more excited about saying I know the authors than the fact that they each put out a way cool book (note to self: see if there's a local chapter of Egos Anonymous - or maybe Confused Egos Anonymous; if not, start one).
Let me get this out of my system: I know Pattie Mosca and Marney Makridakis (and there's probably at least a 50/50 chance that both of them could, if pressed, pick me out of a line-up -- not that I'm planning anything that'd get me into a line up - just sayin').
Ok. As exciting as that is (and I'm sure you've yet to catch your breath - grin) there's more:
There are Square-Peg interviews with both of these gals in the archives - where you can find out how they see themselves as Square-Pegs, what's been the hardest for them, how they maintain their Square-Pegness in a round-hole world, their favorite books (and more)! You can read them here:
Square-Peg People Interview with Marney Makridakis
and
Square-Peg People Interview with Pattie Mosca.
And - on Monday I'll be sharing an in-depth interview with Pattie Mosca about her new book, Permission Slips...For Your Heart & Soul - and soon after I'll share a review of Marney Makridakis's Creating Time: Using Creativity to Reinvent the Clock and Reclaim Your Life.
I'm just SO excited! (And so we're clear here: I've been talking about two cool authors, but only ONE ego - mine.)

Full Disclosure: we're affiliates of Amazon.com - so when you buy from the links above you don't pay a penny more, but you help support Square-Peg People. Thanks!
I'd be excited too! Thanks for sharing the interviews - I just read them and enjoyed them both!

One of the nicest things anyone ever said to me was :"You have a wonderful talent and gift to be able to get excited for others when they have success".
I swear I don't think anyone could be more excited about Patty's success(s) than I am. It just makes me smile from the inside out, to see someone put their art, story, heart out there for the world to see. And then have the world say, "I see it and I love it!" I love being a cheerleader. But I admit, that seeing others succeed also tells me it's possible for me.
I don't know Marney, but I feel like I can say I know Patty even though we've never met. You can't see her pictures and not know her heart.
Your blog is a great way to acknowldge their work.

I ditto what Merry ME says. And add it speaks well of you Karen to feel such excitement for others and what they do. Some of us are pretty excited to be associated with YOU!!
You just have all kinds of wonderment bubbling up in your life from what I can see.
Knowing published authors is an honor and you have returned it by speaking so highly of both these brilliantly talented courageous people and previously by interviewing both of them. Thanks for letting us know, their books are out!

Merry ME, thanks for sharing your story - you're right (as was the person who pointed out your "talent and gift"), getting excited about other people's success IS wonderful (and fun!) - I'm grateful for the reframe!
Ohhh, agreed about Pattie's pictures - her heart shines right through them!
p.s. Interestingly, (well, maybe interesting?? lol) - I met Pattie at a retreat that Marney led. Both of them are awesome!

I love reading your blog because you're always so honest! Thanks for sharing these great interviews, Karen, I've been a huge fan of Marney for a long time. Pattie is new to me, a welcome introduction.
