I joined the Queen at The Philly Flower Show this past Tuesday. Surprising - and cute - the way she was set up upstairs looking down at flower show goers.
She was also outside the entrance to the Convention Center, available to take pictures with. Unfortunately, she must've travelled IN a suitcase - because her fold lines show up BIG in photographs (good thing it wasn't the real Queen, I have an idea she would've bitched a bit at being folded up).
I saw this poor Sensitive Fern at the show and felt sorry for her (him?) - it was a noisy (and a bit push/shove) environment. Manchild noted that it seemed: "like Chuck E Cheese for old people." His insights often get me laughing!
Man Child gets me laughing too! Warming to hear your compassion for Sensitive Fern.
Always puzzles me how sometimes people get pushy shovey out in nature like with all these beautiful flowers and plants around?? It disconnects with me. I find myself getting peaceful instantly when communing with natural lovely living things.
So, I've been wondering...if your son is Man Child and your daughter is SBD, what is your a.k.a. in the family unit?? I know that's a laugh waiting to happen!
Happy weekend!

Big smiles, Terri! My a.k.a. in the fam is just Mom, nothing laughy about that - darn, now I feel the need for a special name at home : ) Oooh, I just realized they may have one for me already, but it'd be one they say behind my back, something like P.I.T.A.
Hadn't thought of the pushy shovey thing the way you wrote of it -- and I'm not sure I HAVE noticed that kind of behavior OUT in nature; maybe it's the artificialness of something like a flower show that draws on the pushy stuff??.
I also thought that there might've been better crowd control - lines set up to walk past the exhibits, but Slightly-British Daughter disagreed - thought it would have definitely made the thing artificial feeling, rather than nature-flowy...
I love how you get me thinking - so glad to "see" you!

I can confirm my theory that later IS better regarding crowds at the PHS flower show! No pushing or lines for us sensitive types. Our laugh of the day came when my husband spotted a cactus that resembled him - they both were sporting wild gray hair that was nearly uncontrollable (& we're not going near his prickly temperament!). I still start to giggle just thinking about it.

Yay! I'm glad you found the best time to go, Mary Ellen. And it's great that later even worked on the weekend!!
Your hubby & the cactus - LOVE it! <3
